What happened?
On October 1st, 2017, Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man, opened fire at the crowd of concert goers attending the Route91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas shooting is the deadliest shooting committed by an individual in United States history.
Who did R3 support?
After the shooting occurred, the entire community of Las Vegas needed immediate behavioral health support after experiencing the mass murder of so many—not to mention the hundreds of concertgoers, many of which had flown in from out of town for the event.
R3 supported local hospital staff treating those injured in the shooting, affected concert staff, and others—including musical performers from shows across the Las Vegas Strip who were struggling to feel emotionally ready to perform again following the shooting.

R3 dispatched 90 crisis consultants to Las Vegas within the span of 36 hours.
R3 was also brought in to support the Las Vegas Strip stage community. Directly impacted by the loss of life they had just witnessed in their Las Vegas community, the performers for the Celine Dion show at Caesar’s Palace (the first show set to take place after the shooting) felt like they couldn’t bring themselves to perform again in the midst of so much grief, shock, anger, and sadness. They needed crisis counseling and the specific kind of behavioral health support R3 could offer in the days and weeks after the event.

As a result of R3’s help, the hospital staff received the critical behavioral health support they needed in order to continue performing their jobs during an intensely stressful period of time, allowing them to provide necessary healthcare to their patients.
The Celine Dion show performers were able to put on their show. R3 helped the musicians and show crew get back on stage and draw on their resilience, allowing them to take a stand against the darkness and use their music as a celebration of life to honor those lost. As the first show on the Las Vegas Shooting to go on after the shooting, the music was a symbol of light and hope amidst the darkness that the Las Vegas community needed.
